The Inception of Five Year Development Plan in 1961 had brought significant socio-economic developments in the country and had resulted immense increase in physical infrastructures. This rapid increase in developmental activity with substantial accumulation of national properties/assets has necessitated the Government to establish an agency responsible for the maintenance and record of national properties. The Royal Government of Bhutan therefore, established the Department of National Properties in April 1982 to cater above national service for the public.
|
- Ensure proper maintenance of the national properties and to prevent the pilferage and loss of such properties;
- Maintain records of national properties;
- Oversee the proper allocation of office space to concerned Government organization/agencies;
- Ensure timely disposal of obsolete Government properties through auction;
- Oversee the works of government-employed artisans (goldsmiths, traditional painters, bronze casters, etc) and cater to the Royal Government's need for arts and crafts.
|
- Further improvement in coordination among the relevant agencies and the DNP;
- Development of a preventive maintenance program;
- Improvement in work efficiency with the introduction of better tools and equipment;
- Coordination of DNP tour programs with the relevant agencies in order to rationalize costs involved in visiting Ministries and Dzongkhags to dispose off unserviceable items.
